This update is quite exciting for me as this is an all-time high for a month as far as dividend income. This is likely due to finally getting end of the month payments on time. Many times recently at last a couple payments had missed the end of the month, and were paid in the early days of the following month. In any event, it is good to see it all come together for December.

I started a new position with Ameriprise (AMP) in December, as I wanted to add another financial company, and the price was becoming attractive after a recent decline. Shortly after these 3 shares were purchased, the price went up significantly. Therefore, it may be a while before I am able to buy any new shares.

Let's take a look at the dividend history:

Month20142015201620172018

February$49.07$50.38$112.01$190.55

April$10.83$27.91$64.56$78.40
May$46.52$59.42$132.14$162.41
June$6.69$47.51$90.97$198.86$221.99

September$54.75$55.61$101.70$226.17$192.40

Yearly Total$218.68$457.66$878.27$1,783.52$2,010.47

...and in graphical form:

As mentioned previously, December yielded an all-time income for a month for me. Also, on the year, my total was able to increase, despite very little additions to the portfolio. It also feels nice to hit $2K total dividends on the year.

Tha below table shows the % change over the last quarter and the last year

%Chg Qtr%Chg Year
December33.05%9.07%

What is unusual here is that the % change for the last quarter exceeds the % change in the last year. This is likely due to the previous quarter number being lower than usual due to some of the dividends that normally come in the last few days of the month being delayed, and not coming in until early the following. As a result, when you have a month like December when those dividends actually do come in at the end of the month when expected, you end up hitting an all-time high for the month, and the quarterly comparison % change gets boosted a bit. Either way these comparison numbers are not bad at all.

So, in summary, December 2018 was a pretty good month.

How was your December? Let me know in the comments below!
