April 2021 Dividends
Hello everyone,
Thanks again for stopping by. It is that time once again to review the previous month's dividend income.
Let's take a look at what April brought in terms of dividend payments:
Transactions
Let's take a look at April transactions:
Buys
- Aflac (AFL) - 4 shares were purchased, which results in $5.28 in forward 12-month income. I still find AFL to be fairly valued at the moment. The only problem being, that I already have 5% of my non-401k portfolio invested in AFL. As the good value options continue to dwindle, I may choose to still purchase more shares.
- Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) - 17 shares were purchased, which results in $72.08 in forward 12-month income. I continue to add shares of this company, even if the price is higher than what I consider to be fair value. Again, with good value options dwindling, I am comfortable buying shares in foundational companies like JNJ, even when slightly overvalued, moreso than lower quality companies at better prices.
- Microsoft (MSFT) - 3 shares were purchased, which results in $8.96 in forward 12-month income. See my justification for buying JNJ shares here, as the same reasoning applies. I am buying a bit into the hype, as even though the price has appreciated a great deal in the last few years, I feel they are setting themselves up for great growth in the future, as well as dividend increases. I am happy to dollar cost average into this company, as I am for JNJ.
- Procter & Gamble (PG) - 1 share was purchased, which results in $3.48 in forward 12-month income. See my justification again for buying shares of JNJ here. This is another foundational company that I am happy to add at slightly overvalued prices, given the value landscape.
- W.P. Carey (WPC) - 1 share was purchased, which results in $4.20 in forward 12-month income.
Both numbers being in the positive double digits show a nice growth over the last few months as well as the last year. Growth in the last quarter is likely due to the fact that I was able to contribute again to my Roth IRA, and added some shares of W.P. Carey (WPC), which pay out their dividend in April. I would probably attribute growth in the last year also to the purchase of shares of UGI Corp. (UGI). I look forward to continuing this growth over the months to come.
Conclusion
So that's a wrap for April 2021 dividends. It is always great to see them growing, especially for those months that have been traditionally lean.
